Tackling My TBR During a Reading Slump

I am not going to lie, I have had an extremely hard time reading these past few weeks. I started out June reading the entire Folk of the Air trilogy in only 5 days! After that I have hit a rough patch and have had so much going on in my personal life that reading kind of took a back seat. Good thing this is a co-owned blog, because Thi has really picked up my slack this month and I cannot thank her enough!!

I have slowly worked through the issues I was having and I feel like I am ready to tackle my TBR pile again. However, my TBR stack is now completely out of control and I am not quite sure where to start!

I recently started Love at First Like since I feel like rom coms are generally light hearted, quick reads. And so far it has been a quick read, I am just not finding myself connected to the female main character.

So with all this being said, I thought maybe I would try something a little different to get myself back into reading and create a fun way to tackle my TBR.

We all know about creating a TBR jar, or joining reading challenges. I have done these things before and have really enjoyed them, but this time I wanted to add a little more interaction with my book friends to help me out of this slump!

July 2020 Reading Slump TBR Challenge

So my goal for my July TBR is to post a stack of 10 books and let my online reading family choose my TBR. I would love for all of you to join in on helping me decide, and I will take the top 4-5 books that are recommended and read those next month! I will post here (obviously) as well as my bookstagram and see what happens!

So without further ado, here are the choices for my July TBR!

The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker
The Diviners by Libba Bray
Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lin
American Royals by Katharine McGee
One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus
The Near Witch by Victoria Schwab
Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo
Aurora Rising by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas

I am excited to see what everyone recommends and try out a fun way to tackle my TBR and hopefully get out of this reading slump! So please leave your recommendations down below!!

And as always, thank you so much for stopping by our blog! We appreciate all of you!

  1. Ooh, so many great choices here but I think if you’re slipping back into reading after a slump Illuminae would be a good place to start. Especially if you liked mixed media formats which made it fun and fast to read! Kristoff and Kaufman also work their magic and make you feel really invested in all the characters and situations. Fab read! I hope one of these works for you 😀
