WWW Wednesday

October 7, 2020

Happy Wednesday!! I just looked back and it seems the last time I did one of these was wayyyyyy back in August. I kept telling myself I was going to stay on top of these weekly memes and we see how this has worked out! Regardless, here we are, so lets have some fun with it and see how long it lasts 😉

WWW Wednesday is hosted by Sam on Taking on a World of Words. If you want to join in on the fun, be sure to tag the original post in the link above. Or feel free to answer the questions in the comment section below! And please feel free to leave your link in the comments as well.

What are the three Ws:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently Reading

I am just starting these two books today and I am really looking forward to both of them!

Anxious People is a book that Thi read last month and then started recommending it to everyone! She has rarely lead me astray, so I figured I would push this book up my TBR list!

With it being October, I was looking for some good horror/spooky reads and even if I haven’t read the synopsis, Horrid seems like that should fit those parameters based just off the cover. So here is hoping for all the creepy vibes and being too scared to read at night.

Recently Finished

My last read of September was Truly Devious, a YA mystery series. I am sometimes a bit weary of YA mysteries, but I found this one to be done really well. I also love the idea of continuing the same mystery into a trilogy and am really looking forward to seeing what happens next!

I recently just finished an arc read of Simmer Down and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a quick and fun, steamy romance. Click here for my full review on this yummy rom com!

What’s Next?

One of my most anticipated reads of this year is This Coven Won’t Break! I absolutely loved These Witches Don’t Burn and I have been not so patiently waiting to read this follow up. My plan is to buddy read this with Thi and enjoy a good witchy read for October!

Beyond the Black Door is my local book club pick for this month. If I am being completely honest, I haven’t read the synopsis so I am not entirely sure what this book is about. However, the cover of this book is gorgeous and has me quite intrigued!

Have you read any of the books on my list? What are you currently reading or planning to read this month? Also, what are your October spooky read recommendations? Lets have a chat down below.

As always, thank you so much for stopping by our blog. We appreciate all the love and support!

WWW Wednesday

August 12, 2020

Happy Wednesday book friends!! It has been quite some time since I have done a WWW Wednesday and it is one of my favorites! So as I have said many times before, I am going to try to make it a routine post!

I currently have 3 buddy reads going and I am just trying to keep my head above water 😛 I just started The Boyfriend Project this morning and am buddy reading it with Thi and our friend Rachel. I am always up for a fun rom com, so this should hopefully be a great read.

Twilight is another buddy read for me and also a re-read that I could not be more excited about! The nostalgia is real with this one 🙂

My last buddy read is Heir of Fire. It has been awhile since I have read Crown of Midnight and I am so excited to be diving back into this series. Sarah J. Maas just has a way of pulling you into a story and making you fall in love with the characters!

Where do I start with Ember in the Ashes? If you haven’t gathered by now, YA fantasy/dystopian is my favorite genre, so Ember in the Ashes has been on my radar for awhile. However, Thi tried to read this book a few months ago and ended up DNFing it and told me it was a snoozefest. In an effort to prove her wrong, I have decided to try it out for myself!

Recently Finished

Wolfhunter River is the third book in the Stillhouse Lake series and I have been absolutely devouring it! I have one last book in the series and I can’t wait to get to it.

The Worst Best Man has been recommended to me by many people and after reading it, I cannot believe I waited so long to dive in. It is such a fun rom com and it provided everything that I look for in that genre. I highly recommend!

What’s Next

I have quite a few more buddy reads to accomplish this month and I am just now realizing I need to start planning a little better!

Girl, Serpent, Thorn is one on my buddy read that I am hoping to tackle with Thi. This book is on my most anticipated releases for 2020 and I am so ready to dive in!

The Night Swim is the group read for one of the Facebook groups that I help admin and I have really been looking forward to finding a good, page turning mystery/thriller. So here’s to hoping this one is it.

Descendant of the Crane is my read for my local book club and has been sitting on my shelf for quite some time now. It has a very intriguing premise, so I am glad it was chosen for our monthly read.

Lastly, Children of Blood and Bone is the only one in this portion that is not a buddy read. Thi read this book recently and has highly recommended it to me, so I am ready to see what all the hype is about.

As always, thank you all so much for stopping by our blog! We truly appreciate all the love and support! Have you read any of these books? What are you currently reading? Let’s have a little chat down in the comments!

May 13, 2020

Happy Wednesday friends!! Even though I have been stuck in the house for two months, somehow these weeks seem to be flying by! I only have two more weeks before my husband and I move into our first house!! That is something to be excited for, but more importantly, I have actually remembered to make a WWW Wednesday post three weeks in a row!

I know that Supernova was on my currently reading last week and technically speaking, I had read the first chapter :-P; however, I have had a little bit more time and have actually gotten a bit further into this series finale. I am really loving this series and happy that we decided to buddy read it. I really need to pick up my pace though, so Thi doesn’t leave me behind!

Speaking of buddy reading, I am also trudging right along on my Harry Potter reread that I am reading with another book friend! We are on Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Something about this book in particular is just even better than the movie. I believe all the books are superior to the movies, but this one just takes it even one step further.

Recently Finished

Escaping from Houdini has been my favorite book in this series so far. Although, all of the books have been very beautifully written. They hold your attention from start to finish and the characters are so well done. I cannot get enough of Audrey Rose and Mr. Thomas Creswell! I can’t wait to finish out this series next month, though I am a little sad for it to be over.

A Million Junes was a buddy read for a Facebook group read and I am so happy this was the book that was chosen. I thoroughly enjoyed the magic realism in this story and felt that it was done extremely well. Sometimes magic realism takes over a story and it detracts from the overall feel of the plot- this is not one of those books. This book is such a beautifully written whimsical story that I would definitely recommend!

What’s next

So if you all recall, In Five Years was also on my WWW Wednesday post last week and I had planned on starting it next, but I was a little slow on my other reads. So this one will hopefully be started before next Wednesday, but I make no promises!

The Unwilling is a stand-alone YA fantasy!! You read that correctly, an actual YA fantasy that is not a series!! This book was chosen for my local book club and I have to fit it in before next Thursday for our Zoom meeting. I am looking forward to starting it this weekend and see how they managed to do this without five thousand other books 😛

As always, thank you all so much for stopping by our blog! We truly appreciate all the love and support! Have you read any of these books? What are you currently reading? Let’s have a little chat down in the comments!

#WWW Wednesday

May 6, 2020

Here we are at another Wednesday. Nowadays I can barely recall what day it is. They all seem to just blend together after awhile. However, I do think this is the first time I have done a back to back WWW Wednesday without forgetting, so cheers to small miracles!

I am almost through with the audiobook for Ink in the Blood, but I am having a hard time connecting to any of the characters and am hoping the ending will maybe redeem this book for me.

I have read the first chapter of Beach Read so I am just starting this journey. This book has been recommended by a lot of people, so I have high hopes!

Supernova is the third book in the Renegades trilogy and I am doing a buddy read with Thi. I have read the first page, so I think that technically still counts as a current read 😉

Recently Finished

I finished out my rom com mood with Would Like to Meet and I thoroughly enjoyed it! It is always hard to find a rom com with both a likeable female and male lead, and this one nailed it. I would highly recommend 🙂

Darling Rose Gold on the other hand was a definite disappointment for me. This was such a highly anticipated release for me, and the cover is just gorgeous. However, both of the main characters in this book are HIGHLY unlikable. I had figured out what was happening fairly early on in the book and had a hard time caring about what happened to any of the characters.

After I made it through my rom com mood, I landed hard in a mystery/thriller mood. I started with The Wives since it came recommended from Thi. She didn’t let me down with this recommendation! I really enjoyed the way this one was written and that ending!!!

The Guest List was quite a bit different from The Wives, but just as enjoyable, if not more. The setting of this story was so well describe. It made you feel like you were really there. This story is told from multiple POVs and is done very well and made the story even more interesting.

What’s Next

In Five Years will be my next buddy read with Thi. I have heard a few mixed reviews on this book, but I am excited to read it and decide for myself!

A Million Junes is a group read I am doing in a Facebook book group. I have actually not read the synopsis yet, so I am going in blind on this one!

As always, thank you all so much for stopping by our blog! We appreciate all the support and reading our thoughts! Have you read any of these books? What are your current reads? Let’s have a chat down in the comments!!

April 29, 2020

We have made it to the last Wednesday of April!! This month has flown by and I have been all over the place even though I haven’t left my house 😉 I missed WWW Wednesday last week as I my husband and I have been dealing with trying to buy a house! But I am really going to do my best to make a routine!

I just started the audiobook for The Library of Lost and Found yesterday and I am now about halfway through. It was recommended to me by a friend when I said I was looking for a book about books!

Lately I have been on a real rom com kick and decided I would try to squeeze one more in. So I decided on Would Like to Meet and I am really enjoying it so far!!

Darling Rose Gold is a buddy read I am doing with Thi. We have actually done quite a few buddy reads this month, and it has been fun having someone to discuss with along the way.

Recently Finished

I absolutely adored Meet Cute. It came recommended from a few of my friends and with my recent obsession of rom coms, it was just what I needed!

I continued the story of Audrey Rose in Hunting Prince Dracula. I think I enjoyed the first book in the series a little more, but this one was still very interesting and makes me want to start the next book very soon!

Archenemies was a buddy read with Thi and it was fantastic. An excellent continuation of the series. If you are looking for a good superhero/villian series, I cannot recommend this one more!

Best Laid Plans was yet another buddy read with Thi 😛 This is definitely a YA contemporary romance and I found at times part of it was a little immature. However, I think the overall story was really well done and I would definitely recommend.

Lastly, Eleanor & Park was recommended to me by Thi and I shall never forgive her for not warning me about certain parts. She states that she had no warning, so I was to go in blind as well..

What’s Next

I am not planning much of my reading for the month of May. I have a busy month ahead with getting back into work, as well as, packing and moving into our first home!

These are the only two books I have made plans to read next month, as they are going to be buddy reads with…. you guessed it, THI!

As always, thank you all so much for stopping by our blog! We appreciate all the support and reading our thoughts! Have you read any of these books? What are your current reads? Let’s have a chat down in the comments!!

#WWW Wednesday

April 15, 2020

Is it really Wednesday already? Where has the week gone? I missed WWW Wednesday last week as I can’t seem to get myself together these days! But I am feeling a bit more put together this week, so I have taken this opportunity to update the blog!

With all that being said, lets get to it!!!

I am continuing along on my yearly re-read of Harry Potter, and I have made it to the Goblet of Fire. This is the last illustrated edition that is out currently, so I am going to enjoy it while it lasts!

I have also made it to the last book in the Darker Shade of Magic series. This series is quickly becoming one of my favorites!! I am trying to finish up A Conjuring of Light by the end of this week for my local book club as we are planning on having a virtual meeting!

Recently Finished

Well, seeing as how I missed last weeks WWW Wednesday, I have a bit more books that were added to my recently finished list!

First, I read Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, which is by far my FAVORITE book from the series! I read the illustrated edition and I cannot even begin to form thoughts on how magnificent this version is. Also, in the wizarding world, I read The Tales of Beetle the Bard and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. I thoroughly enjoyed all the short stores in Tales of Beetle the Bard. Fantastic Beasts was a lot of fun, but I also felt like I was just reading a textbook, which I suppose was the point.

Valentine was a very well written book and was such a break from my normal read. I really enjoyed reading this story from multiple different women’s view points. The book does not have quotation marks, which irritated some people. However, I did not feel that this slowed my reading or the context of the story.

I just finished The Glass Hotel last night, and I have yet to post a rating on Goodreads. I am having trouble with this one since Goodreads doesn’t allow 1/2 stars. This book for me was a solid 3.5 star rating. The beginning of the book was a bit slow, but the overall writing and the second half of the book was so good. The beginning of the book doesn’t quite reach 4 stars, but the writing and the second half of the book doesn’t deserve 3 stars. It is a dilemma I must sort out at some point.

I have been in a rom com mood lately and If I Never Met You fit that so well. I absolutely loved this book and devoured the book in just 3 sittings. I loved the book so much that I am now off in search of more of Mhairi McFarlane’s novels!!

Lastly, A Conjuring of Light and the whole Darker Shade of Magic trilogy is quickly becoming one of my favorite series. The characters are so intriguing and the dark magic draws me in to this world. I cannot say enough good things about Kell and Rhy, I just love them!

What’s Next:

I am finally getting around to reading book two in the Renegades trilogy. I read book one last year and Thi has finally convinced me to do a buddy read with her for Archenemies.

To continue on my mood of rom coms, I have been recommended Meet Cute by a few people, so I have high hopes!

It took me awhile, but I did get around to reading Stalking Jack the Ripper and I thought it was fantastic. I loved the setting and the main character was probably one of my favorite female leads. So with that being said, I think I am going to enjoy the next book in the series, Hunting Prince Dracula.

Thank you for stopping by the blog and a bit longer post this time around since I missed last week. We appreciate your support! Have you read any of these books? What are you currently reading? Let’s have a chat in the comments below!!

#WWW Wednesday: March 25, 2020

It is that time of the week again! I have been working from home for about a week and a half now and have had plenty of time to try and tackle my ever growing TBR pile.

WWW Wednesday is hosted by Sam on Taking on a World of Words. If you want to join in on the fun, be sure to tag the original post in the link above. Or feel free to answer the questions in the comment section below!

What are the three Ws:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently Reading

It may come as quite a surprise that I am currently only reading two books! I do a yearly re-read of Harry Potter, and this year is no exception! I decided this time around to read the illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. I just recently got this edition and it is absolutely GORGEOUS! For anyone who enjoys Harry Potter, these editions are a must! This week I have also started Havenfall and buddy reading it with Thi! I haven’t made it too far in, but so far it has a promising start!

Recently Finished

Since last Wednesday, I have completed FIVE books! To be fair, I started Salt to the Sea at the beginning of the month and finally finished it up yesterday. All I can say is, if you haven’t read any of Ruta Sepetys’ books, I highly suggest you do. This is my second novel by her and I can honestly say she has become one of my favorite historical fiction authors. She gives voices to many events in history that should never be forgotten.

Can we stop and talk about Beartown for a moment? This book is likely to end up in my top ten pile for 2020. I really don’t have adequate words to describe my love for this book. It is such a well written book that tugs at your heartstrings and drags you into this small hockey town in the woods.

I did end up finishing Little Fires Everywhere just in time to check out the show! I binged watched the first three episodes and ready to keep going. The book was really well done and the tv show adaptation so far is living up to the hype.

Sadie was a book I completed on audio and I cannot recommend that format enough for this book. Since this book is written in part podcast form, the audiobook felt like I was really listening in on a true crime podcast. It is a unique experience and one I really enjoyed!

Lastly, I finished up a buddy read of The Downstairs Girl with some book friends and it was quite the read. I have not read many historical fictions written in Atlanta in the 1890s. I loved the writing style and found the story to be uniquely entertaining.

All in all, I highly recommend all five books! I had a very good reading week and here’s to hoping the trend continues!

What’s Next?

Ok, I know that Stalking Jack the Ripper was on my What’s Next from last Wednesday, and I had all intentions of starting it. This will be the week that I get it done! Darling Rose Gold and The Glass Hotel are both newly released books that I have been looking forward to and can’t wait to see if they live up to all of their hype!

As always, thanks for stopping by our blog! Please feel free to join in on the fun of WWW Wednesday on your own blog and leave a link for it so we can check it out, or comment your answers down below!

What are the three Ws:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

CURRENTLY READING:

I am hoping to finish Little Fires Everywhere today so that I can start watching the show! The Downstairs Girl has been a step out of my norm, but I have been thoroughly enjoying it and should have it completed by tomorrow. Lastly, Dark Matter is my most recent start and I am about a third of the way through it. It has been recommended to me by numerous people, so I have high hopes for this book!

RECENTLY FINISHED:

My most recent finish was Crown of Midnight and all I can say is if you haven’t started the Throne of Glass series yet, you definitely should! That is a solid 5 star read for me!! Oasis was a very quick read that I completed in 24 hours. It was a different style of writing for me, but I found it enjoyable and certainly peaked my interest. Overall, a 4 stars book! Then, we have The Sun Down Motel and holy moly, the creep factor is REAL! I could not read this book at night and found the paranormal aspects to be done extremely well. I think I am somewhere between 4-4.5 stars on this one!

WHAT’S NEXT:

I have a few buddy reads that I am doing next week, which includes Havenfall and Stalking Jack the Ripper. I have also been wanting to start the Folk of Air series for quite some time, so here is hoping I can knock out The Cruel Prince over the next week!

Thanks for stopping by! As I said before, feel free to join the fun on your own blog, or leave your answers in the comment section!
